"Entrepreneurship: A Choice
and a Responsibility"

Starting a business should be an accessible journey for everyone. Yet many believe it requires specialized knowledge. In his book, Entreprendre, un choix et une responsabilité (“Entrepreneurship: A Choice and a Responsibility”), currently available only in French, Serge-Richard PETIT-FRÈRE offers readers a clear and engaging guide to understanding the key concepts of business creation, while encouraging self-reflection to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses and align their life goals with their entrepreneurial ambitions.

Driven by a desire to understand the contribution of the business sector to his country’s development, the author also profiles Haitian entrepreneurs who, in many cases unknowingly, have a significant impact on the country’s future.

Finally, the book presents alternative approaches to foster the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs who can pool their resources and become true builders of their communities.

Recommendations to the reader

This work, very rich that can be read, sometimes takes on the appearance: Of a novel, in which transpires an experience of the author; Of an academic/educational book, in which the author uses activities that allow readers not only to deepen concepts essential to the choices they will make in their professional future, but also to virtually experience situations that will ignite the flame of entrepreneurship in their life; Of critical analysis of Haitian society in which, knowing how to undertake would make each citizen a true actor of responsible change. In addition, the quotations at the beginning of each section call to mind and provoke the desire to read the section. Finally, the highlighting of the border between "Invent" and "Innovate" represents a line of thought for any educational system, particularly that of Haiti, on the importance of entrepreneurship as a learning module from an early age. Following the production of this learning material, the author would benefit from setting up a series of training workshops on entrepreneurial education for schools and universities.

With his book "ENTREPRENDRE, UN CHOIX ET UNE RESPONSABILITÉ", Serge Richard Petit-Frère puts on the market a true companion for all those who question entrepreneurship or pursue an entrepreneurial adventure! This book fills a gap in terms of practical guide for entrepreneurship learning in Haiti. It is easy to read. The concepts are presented with remarkable simplicity. In addition, the exercises that appear in the book allow the reader to easily make the connection between the theoretical dimension and the practical aspect of entrepreneurship. This book will have the virtue of serving as a reference for our children who are learning to develop their entrepreneurial spirit at school or university. But even more, this book can serve as a bedside book for any entrepreneur eager to have a framework where he can refer in moments of wandering. To you reader, I encourage you to apply the advice provided in this book, first, to know yourself better as a person, and then to set off to conquer your dreams with serenity.
